The 28th meeting of the World Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad was held in Moscow.

A NAA’s representative took place in the discussion devoted to teaching Russian for students from foreign countries. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation on 17 May 2017.

The members of the World Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad (WCC), the Chairmen of the Regional Coordinating Councils of compatriots, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Science, Rosobrnadzor, NAA, the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs participated in the event.

P.Zenkovich, the Official Secretary - Deputy Minister of Education and Science, noted in his speech: “It is very important for us that our compatriots living far from the Motherland will be able to share our culture, language and our values. And it can be done only through the education and upbringing of compatriots' children”.   

During the meeting, the main challenges foreign specialists face were identified. The representatives from foreign communities discussed the issues of promoting new forms of work with young people from abroad, the development of Russian language schools abroad and the expansion of Russian speaking area, the role of compatriots in intensifying trade and economic ties between foreign communities and Russia.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the issues of attestation of schoolchildren studying abroad and the prospects for passing the USE (Uniform State Exam) and admission to Russian HEIs in accordance with the corresponding quota specified in the documents of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Summarizing the meeting results, P.S. Zenkovich noted that joint work with the members of the World Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad will be continued both in the format of face-to-face meetings, and through the collection of topical issues and the publication of answers to them in a wide access.
